On May 4 or 5,2009 -- a male, unaltered black and tan shiba, about 2 years old,
was picked up by animal control in Multnomah County.
The dog has no tags, no microchip. If anyone knows of someone who
is missing this dog or might be interested in adopting him, please contact us
or the Multnomah County Humane Society.

Another Group Placement for Sanshou! "Claire" finished her championship in style,
taking Best of Breed, and then adding to it a Group 4 in Hanford, CA. Claire and "Boshi"
are both out of Noel. Noel has produced very nice puppies. We hope to do as well
with their new half sister, sired by Ditto, who is now just 8 weeks old.

We take great pride in showing
our own dogs in the Bred-By Exhibitor (BBE) class.
True "breeders" are there, usually from conception
to birth and beyond, raising, training, and living
day-to-day with the pups they hope to exhibit in BBE, and these
are the efforts which define us as breeders,
not because someone has signed us on to the registration papers
of their bitch. The BBE class was created as a place
to honor breeders and provide them a showcase in which
to exhibit (themselves) their own breeding stock.
One of our goals is to be taken seriously
as breeders, and to earn
the respect of our peers,
thus we encourage all breeders to honor the intent of the BBE
class. Don't let someone convince you to allow
them to co-own your bitch just so they can be considered a "breeder
of record" and show in the BBE class.
Why should you let anyone else take the credit for your breeding
program? You'll end up looking foolish
and discredit the intent of the BBE class. Pro handlers
(those with questionable integrity)
and some who pose as "breeders", are using this tactic
as a way to exhibit at the AKC Invitational
in the Bred-By Competition, when they have not honestly earned
the right to do so. Breeders are
committed to the betterment of their breed -- and very few make
their living showing/breeding dogs.
We have contacted AKC, asking them to remedy this issue. They
have responded and are attempting to
address this concern. In the meantime, please give the BBE class
and breeders, the respect they deserve.

Puppy Update:
Miss Kitty and Misaki's puppies are
now about 3 weeks old. Here are some photos for your enjoyment.
Believe it or not, all of these puppies will be reds, just some
will be darker red than others. I have taken all the deposits
I will take on this litter. We must decide if & who will
be staying with us.

of "Happy Singing Shibas".
Sanshou Shibas, dedicated to eradicating the earth of rodent
scum indigenous to their realm,
they will leave no stone unturned, no stuffed toy stuffed. They
will chew the moldings and
wooden furniture, come in the house with dirty feet and jump
on the bed.
These are Shibas, Sanshou's Shibas. Dedicated to enriching
the lives of those humans they own.

Below is a photo of Ray, a black and tan
male out of BeeJay and Madison, who is now 4 years old. One of
the rare sites around San Francisco, a rather large black and
tan shiba who is seen off lead! His owners have been diligent
in working with Ray, and while he's not necessarily the most
well trained dog, he is a well trained Shiba. They have included
Ray in their daily activities and we are so happy to have placed
Ray into their loving home. |
This is Ray's litter sister, Kiri. She was originally
placed in a show home in Massachusetts, and is now back here
at Sanshou. We hope to hit the show ring with her and give the
judges a good luck at what a correctly marked black and tan looks
like. She's really a black and tan version of her mother, Madison. |
